14 years old. He is the "brain" of the Children's Crusade. As the son of a local scribe, he can read and write, which was a rare skill for his time. He is very worldly and possesses a calm, rational demeanor. It was later revealed that Christian harbors feelings for Étienne, but kept it hidden because homosexuality was considered sinful and thus, forbidden. His reason for joining the Children's Crusade was to receive a surgical procedure that allows him to transfigure from man to woman. After witnessing Étienne and Isabelle become one, he attempts to kill her out of jealousy. He also chokes Étienne; insisting that he would kill him if he wouldn't accept his feelings. However, he was later killed by Michael by impaling a stake through his heart and was kicked into a river to die; with his textbook, his most precious belonging, shredded and thrown in after him.
