Appears in the Shinobu/Sakura arc. Shuutarou picks up the notebook dropped by Shinobu while on the mermaid hunt with Sakura, and expresses the desire to go on a hunt. Although the notebook states that boys can't see mermaids, Shuutarou is willing to try, stating "what if that boy's heart was a woman's?". Shuutarou is secretly in love with Takaaki, Shinobu's childhood friend, and gets jealous when the two are close. Shuutarou plans to use Sakura as the "N" mermaid to obtain Takaaki's love. Shuutarou is indeed able to see the mermaids but fails to kill one and is turned into an "I" mermaid with a female body. Shuutarou later makes a brief appearance as a mermaid, when Saya taunts that she too is in love with Takaaki.
