Shinobu Ryuugasaki Синобу Рюгасаки | Shinobu Ryuugasaki

Appears in the Shinobu/Sakura arc. Shinobu is Sakura's friend, and agrees to hunt mermaids with her even though Shinobu herself isn't in love with anyone and doubts that love obtained through this method is genuine. She reads the entire notebook thoroughly and, after discovering that mermaid's blood is sufficient to avoid being turned into one, refuses to eat the mermaids' flesh or kill them. Shinobu has been friends with Saya, Takaaki and Shouta since they were kids, and is unaware that Takaaki has a crush on her. About her investigations into the myth: After Sakura turns into a mermaid, Shinobu is taunted by Nanae with a way to turn her back to normal. As Nanae refuses to tell her, Shinobu decides to take matters into her own hands and, by comparing the mermaids' appearances to missing persons records, Shinobu deduces that the mermaid's flesh myth started in 1975. Sakura also leaves a clue in the form of a mysterious "Q" written on a blackboard. After Shinobu confronts Saya during the latter's mermaid hunt for Takaaki's love, a mermaid with a monstrous appearance — who is later revealed to be Q Mermaid — warns Shinobu to never call upon the mermaids again, stating that "the human heart is ever so fickle after all". When Shinobu disregards the warning, Q states that if Shinobu kills her, it'll all be over. About her relationships: Eventually, Shinobu becomes aware of Takaaki's feelings for her but is shocked to discover that Saya is her rival. Nanae despises Shinobu because she is the daughter of Hidemi, whom had gone on to marry Taizou.
