Originally introduced as a member of the sand digging team. Troy tries to inspire team unity and courage, even offering to stand in as digger for Akashi which he eventually does. Soon after passing the sand digging trial Troy decides to commit suicide after confessing his feelings to Mei whom he'd never spoken to. As Mei demeans his manhood he resolves to live on and protect her throughout the trials, in hopes of gaining her affection despite her apparent love for Akashi. In spite of the coward he seemingly is, Troy goes on to save Mei from the Rope Up Up mystery making use of her invisibility cloak. Troy is raffled as the first candidate for the final trial. A game of luck, rock paper scissors against Sein Kami. As he approaches the stage, Troy openly confesses his love towards Mei and gives a motivating speech towards the crowd, telling them that he will lead the way and be the first to pass. Toroi opens up with a rock, in an effort to tie with Kami as it is the most commonly used hand. Succeeding, he follows up with paper but is met again with a tie, to which he wets his pants in anguish. Troy desperately releases his hand for a third time as scissors to no avail, as Kami drew rock and has him executed.
